Hauenstein is an enchanted town in the middle of the UNESCO biosphere-reservation nature park in the Palatinate (or Palatine) Forest. The forces of nature have sculpted a bizarre and eccentric landscape of colourful sandstone rock formations found all throughout the south of the Palatinate.The largest of these, termed the "Giants" stand out of the rich green of the dense foliage with their yellow and bright red stripes. The most famous is called the "devil's table". The area is also a hiker`s and biker`s haven and a great place to experience nature.
